velta has provided solutions for more than 1,000 buildings and installed in excess of 3million mฒ of velta TABS embedded within the concrete structure to provide this sustainable and energy efficient solution for the heating and cooling of modern buildings.

velta TABS can provide a bespoke solution for a building's heating and cooling requirement, right from the design concept through to the site installation and commissioning of the system.

TECHCRETE

The project

A new state of the art 1,250mฒ two story office headquarters for Techcrete, architectural precast cladding specialist, based in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin.

The new office facility uses may innovative precast concepts resulting in a building which was constructed with remarkable speed and on budget.

VANGUARD HOUSE, DARESBURY

The project

Vanguard House provides a key facility on the Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus for office and laboratory accommodation and has allowed the Innovation Centre to expand the next stage of its development.

The 3,300 sq metre building will be ideally located to provide larger office space for some of the 100 companies already based on the Campus, as well as attract new high-tech businesses.

Vanguard House is an attractive 3 storey steel framed office building, designed to achieve a BREEAM excellent accreditation.

WORCESTER LIBRARY

The project

This 4500mฒ new build scheme takes advantage of velta's easily adaptable cooling / base heating system which has been installed into the concrete core of the building in varying floor construction types.

CAFOD

The project

This was a new build project (1500mฒ) for CAFOD (Catholic Overseas Development Agency). velta's TABS system was installed to provide a cooling system to the office spaces on all floors.

PSV

The project

Bury St Edmunds Public Service Village (PSV) is an innovative partnership between St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Suffolk County Council.

The scheme aims to achieve an excellent BREEAM rating and has been designed to use sustainable methods of energy to provide long-term cost saving and environmental savings.

MMU

The project

International building product supplier, Hanson, and velta have jointly developed Coolslabฎ, an energy saving and cost effective structural solution for sustainable buildings.

Manchester Metropolitan's new Business School and Student Hub is intended to be at the forefront of green building development in the city. The 20,000 sq metre building will incorporate a new faculty and as well as a cross-university facility for 5,000 students and 250 staff.

As a progressive low energy University building it achieved a design stage BREEAM excellent.

EETC

The project

The Environmental Energy Technology Centre (EETC) is a carbon neutral building powered by a 225 kW wind turbine attached to the largest mini hydrogen grid system in Europe. The building provides incubation and support for growing technology businesses.

Highland Schools

The project

The nine Highland Schools for Highland Council is the biggest building programme ever to be undertaken by a local authority in the Highlands, and one of the largest floor heating contracts for Scotland. The project provides three secondary schools, five primary schools, one combined primary and secondary school and a special educational needs school. Eight of the schools are located around Inverness, and one each at Portree (Isle of Skye) and Kinlochleven.

National Museum Vets School

The project

Walkergate Park Hospital

The project

Walkergate Park Hospital in Newcastle-upon-Tyne is a PFI project with Northgate and Prudhoe NHS Trust to provide a new ฃ25m specialist Neuro Rehabilitation and Neuropsychiatry unit.

The centre will provide a range of specialist inpatient and outpatient services for rehabilitation, including neurorehab, and for patients who are minimally conscious or in a persistent vegetative state.

The project will bring together existing local and regional specialist services for people with a neuro disability into one unified centre.

Redcar and Cleveland Schools

The project

Thermal modelling was undertaken by velta to demonstrate the performance of the structural concrete application. Extensive contract coordination took place between the various contractors and velta staff to ensure that on site works would run smoothly.

Civil Justice Building

The project

This new North West England headquarters for the Department of Constitutional Affairs provides 47 courtrooms in a landmark 16 storey building, and has a spectacular 60m by 60m glass fa็ade along the western edge which is the largest hung glass wall in Europe.

Providing a dramatic landmark in Manchester, this new building is the biggest court complex to be built in the UK since the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

Cooling capability on this project is produced from 2 boreholes providing ground water.

Winter Gardens

The project

Olympic Velodrome

The project

The 6,000 seat Velodrome will host the Olympic and Paralympic track cycling events in 2012. After the Games, the Velodrome will be used by elite athletes and the local community and will include a caf้, bike hire and cycle workshop facilities.

The heating was incorporated within the main in-field areas as well as transient spaces on the upper and first floor levels. Heating was also incorporated into the competitors changing areas and officials changing areas to give maximum comfort prior to any competition.

velta is part of the Uponor Group and Uponor were also involved in the project, supplying innovative solutions in plumbing and heating for the Olympics development, including the unique modular fitting system for Uponor's industry-leading multilayer composite pipework.

Fewer parts, greater flexibility, easier planning and quicker processing are the key advantages of the Uponor multilayer composite pipe (MLCP) system for commercial plumbing. The properties of Uponor MLCP give it the flexibility to work within the natural shape of a building – particularly beneficial in forming bends around the Velodrome, for instance.

Royal Opera House

The project

The integration of a velta one industrial heating and cooling system cast directly into the floor slabs and fed from a closed loop ground source heat pump to provide low temperature heating and cooling was an attraction .

The building had varying room heights that benefited from a heating/cooling system that worked specifically in the occupied zone.

The floor was pour using the laser screed machine meaning high levels of tolerance were achieved for the slab.

Single warranty for both floor heating and concrete slab – offering total piece of mind for the client

Beckton Waterfront

The project

This project involved the construction of industrial and office units as part of the London Olympics re-location plan.

As part of the Olympic Development Agency's remit, the project delivers 10% renewable energy.

Manresa Road Apartments

The project

The prestigious address in London, 21 Manresa Road, is the location for one of London's most exclusive and luxurious residential developments and consists of only 15 duplex, triplex and penthouse apartments.

The original building in Manresa Road was completed in 1895 for South West London Polytechnic and then became the home for Chelsea School of Art during the 1930's. It was later transferred to King's College London in 1985 and used as a research facility until 2002.

Only the Victorian fa็ade of the building has been retained and stretches over 100m along Manresa Road.

B&Q New Malden

The project

The award winning designed, flagship B&Q store in New Malden, London which will benefit from having 10% of its energy needs catered for by renewable energy sources on site.

The concept for this store was to demonstrate the store design and construction of the future, utilising renewable energy sources though energy piles and solar panels.

The systems used within the building and the construction methods also had to adopt this philosophy and demonstrate environmental benefits.

Chatterley Valley

The project

A scheme to build one of the world's greenest business and logistics parks in North Staffordshire. The pioneering new project called Blue Planet Chatterley Valley was developed by Gazeley UK Ltd and hosts ultra-green sustainability credentials for the 385,000sq ft warehousing facility.

NHS Lifts Projects

The project

Having completed several health centres with heating only applications working directly for Eric Wright, velta developed a solution to provide the future option of combined heating and cooling.

The Platt Bridge health centre, recently completed with Eric Wright Construction was officially opened earlier this year. The new centre houses three GP practices to replace the existing premises.

The building is part of the ongoing LIFT initiative in Wigan; Britain's biggest ever project to improve frontline primary health and social care facilities and services.

velta has also completed two more centres in Accrington, part of the East Lancashire LIFT scheme, which have heating and cooling capability, covering 9,000mฒ.
