With more than 70% of high rise buildings in the UK utilising this form of construction, velta has developed a metal deck system and used this in heating only and combined heating and cooling applications. The system is installed directly into the structural concrete on the composite metal deck, eliminating the requirement for screed with the associated costs, programme time and drying issues.
velta has worked closely with Corus to demonstrate the performance of the cooling system in composite construction and are able to offer clients a complete installation of system and concrete as a single, warranted package with our partners Stuarts Industrial Flooring.
Close design liaison with the structural engineers and the main contractors is required, and velta designers and contracts staff are experienced in this exercise. Thermal modelling can also be undertaken by velta staff to demonstrate the performance of the structural system, identifying the heat transfer from upper and lower surfaces of the concrete.
Working closely with M&E Contractor, NG Bailey and the design team, velta developed the metal deck heating system for the construction of 3 primary and 2 high schools.
Leeds based architects, Watson Batty, wanted to utilise the new office's full potential so velta was appointed to incorporate the velta metal deck system in to the structural composite construction.
