The project
The state-of-the-art Rathbone Rehabilitation Centre in Liverpool cares for up to 25 people with long term mental health problems in single en-suite rooms.
velta designers worked closely with the architect and M&E Consultants to develop the heating and cooling solution for this project.
Mechanical Contractors, A&B Engineering and the client are now considering further velta systems for future extensions to the scheme.
The solution
Heating and cooling is achieved throughout the building using the velta classic system in screed on the ground floor with the velta siccus dry fit system on the timber first floor.
Two condensing boilers and one external chiller provide the heated and chilled water for the system.
The benefits
A floor heating and cooling solution brings many benefits to this type of building;
• Heating and cooling capability in one system
• Invisible and safe
• Low maintenance
• Links with efficient energy sources and renewables
• Hygienic and healthy system
